GENERAL COUNSEL FOR SMALL BUSINESSES (EMPHASIS ON COVID-19 LAWS)
Our vision is for everyday working families to be on the same financial playing field as the Nation's wealthiest families. While the wealthy have long had access to professional services, everyday working families are rarely able to afford, or even know where to look, for such services. The Pryor Law Firm provides these services at a price everyday families can afford because: (1) we believe it is the right thing to do; and (2) not too long ago, we were one of those everyday working families that lacked the means and know-how to access these essential services.
MARCUS PRYOR II
Marcus is an accomplished attorney and a military officer. Marcus’s legal career started on two simultaneous but separate tracks, one for a matter in which he represented himself while in law school, and the other, more traditional track as a summer associate with a national law firm in 2013. By virtue of his personal case, Marcus gained unprecedented experience as he successfully argued an access to justice matter before the Supreme Court of Ohio and won! As has been noted many times, very few attorneys ever argue before a state supreme court, approximately only half can say they won, and almost none can tout such an achievement in their first year of practice, but Marcus can.
Marcus’s astounding success at such a young stage in his career would not have been possible without the help and guidance from his more traditional legal track and the attorneys and staff of the law firm Tucker Ellis, LLP. In addition to providing Marcus support throughout his case, Tucker Ellis taught Marcus the traditional lessons of the legal profession. As a litigation associate, Marcus worked on all facets of a case, from initial consultations, to filing a complaint, to participating in discovery, to engaging in motion practice, and ultimately to the resolution of a case.
In addition to Marcus’s unique beginnings in the legal world, he has since supplemented that experience by serving as a military attorney in the Army Reserves and as the General Counsel for a medium-sized energy broker. As a military attorney, in addition to other duties, Marcus has spent the past three years preparing wills for military members and learning the importance of estate planning. Likewise, as the General Counsel, he also created and implemented numerous processes and procedures related to labor and employment law from management’s perspective.
As such, Marcus is proud to offer his services and expertise to the people he proudly calls family, friends, and neighbors, and now, clients. While Marcus is happy to field any legal question in the hope of being able to point the individual in the right direction, Marcus focuses on providing wills, estate planning, and employee-related legal advice to families and individuals that that cannot afford, or simply do not want, to pay by the billable hour of a large law firm or simply do not know any attorneys. In addition, Marcus provides legal services to new entrepreneurs and small businesses, with an emphasis on navigating the legal and financial challenges and opportunities presented by COVID-19.
When Marcus is not practicing law, he does his best to be a loving husband to his Super-Wife, Sarah, and a good father and coach for his kids and their sports teams. He also serves on the Akron Law School Alumni Board and does his best to support the Brimfield, Kent, Akron, and Cincinnati communities that he calls home.
